about

Obatala
An easy downtempo groove reflecting the colors often found in Afro-Cuban music. The melody is woven together with scat vocals, sax, flute and bass guitar. A harmonica solo followed by a floating vibraphone solo fill out the middle and bring us back down to earth for the last verse and chorus. Originally by Brazilian band Meto Meto, the piece was completely reimagined for this serene approach.

With no commercial aspirations this is a personal, unashamedly, self indulgent project.
