I heard the original version of this song by Brazilian band Meta Meta in a yoga class - I discovered a lot of wonderful music in that class and I think some of the music i heard there inspired me to get back into creating my own music again. (thank you Tabitha!!!).
My version leans towards an Afro Cuban feel. Aaron Serfaty and Greg Ellis on perc. The melody is a blend of vocals beautifully supplied by Michelle Gonzalez along with tenor sax and alto flute playing by Steve Elson and a bass all playing the same line. Bill Barrett had laid down a harmonica part and as the track continued playing in the studio he soloed over a section I was holding for a vibraphone solo. But his playing brings me so much joy I had to keep it. Then along comes Nick Mancini and his vibes solo - I just love where it takes the track (and me).
